Power of Attorney

As part of your estate planning, it is sound advice to have financial and health care powers of attorney prepared.  A Durable Power of Attorney for Financial Management will allow you to select the individual(s) you want to be your "agent" to handle your financial affairs should you ever be unable to make financial decisions or execute financial documents yourself.  Such decisions may need to be made by your "agent" due to incapacity or other circumstances (i.e. unavailability due to military service).  A Health Care Power of Attorney would allow you to select the person to be your "agent" who would make health care decisions for you in the case of becoming incapacitated as determined by two physicians, or a physician and a psychologist, who have personally examined you.  Attorney Kuehn would be happy to discuss the preparation of these documents with you.  They can also discuss with you the need to prepare a Declaration to Physicians and HIPAA Release Authority documents which would fully set forth your wishes to any health care provider or health care agent if you should become incapacitated.
